A Little Cameron Update
Cameron is 7 weeks and 3 days old…I cannot believe he will be TWO MONTHS next week!  I return to work next week, so he will be going to a daycare. We had one picked out, but have to switch for a couple of reasons. We checked out one today that was OK…I really HATE the idea of a “big box” daycare - I prefer to bring him to someone’s house. We are meeting with a lady...

Dear Cameron,
Dear Cameron, Thank you for knowing the difference between night and day. When you fall asleep between around 9 & 12, we know you will be asleep until 6 or so…we appreciate your consideration of our sleep depravation.  How do you know that I am about to put you into your swing/bassinet/chair? You are SOUND asleep in my arms then BOOM! Your eyes open like someone just said we were...

One Month Milestones
I saw this on another mom’s blog and thought it would be a cute way to document Cameron’s milestones, as well as know what to look for each month! 1. Lifts head for short periods of time - he does this a lot while we are burping him…he loves to look around! 2. Moves head from side to side - he doesn’t follow objects yet, but is capable of moving his head from side to...

ONE MONTH!
Dear Cameron, You are one month old! I cannot believe that you’ve only been in our lives for 31 short days, but I’m not going to lie…they have been a looong 31 days. We love you to pieces and fall more in love with you each day - you really are turning into a little person with each funny face you make, tear you shed and move you make. As hard as it is some days, I feel so...

Thoughts on this post-partum thing...
I guess you can call me naive, but I honestly thought that I would give birth, we would leave the hospital 2 days later and I would be back to walking the boulevard, shopping and laying in the sun within a few weeks. Of course, things changed quickly since we were in the hospital for EIGHT days and Cameron hasn’t stopped crying since he was three days old.  There’s no shopping. No...

The many faces of Cam
We have been trying really hard to get Cam on some kind of routine which includes putting him in his bassinet to sleep - both for nighttime and naps. However, sometimes it’s easier to just slowly put him down on the nearest flat surface…and that’s just what we did one afternoon while we were in the living room. He napped great on the couch and I got to snap some cute pictures of...

Prayers, Please
We learned last week that one of Chad’s childhood family friends, Jill, passed away while on vacation with her husband. Jill was five months pregnant and got taken under by a rip current - her husband tried to keep her afloat for 30 minutes, but she ended up passing away at the hospital. As a new mother, I couldn’t even get through this article without losing it. I cannot imagine what...

Our Life in Pictures
Being a new mom is pretty time-consuming. I feel like I should be taking WAY more pictures, but I just can’t seem to pull my camera out. Instead, here are some phone pics of what we have been up to… Chad’s mom (Grandma Scott) visited us for 12 days! Sweet Cam loved spending time with her :) Grandma Scott and her brand new grandson! Kennebunkport Beach When Grandma Scott...

Us Lately
Well, let me start off by saying that his mother thing is a lot harder than I imagined. It’s taking a village to take care of Cameron and I couldn’t be more thankful for all of the help we have received from Chad’s mom, my mom and Marguerite. Chad’s mom was here for 12 days and allowed me to shower, eat and pick up. Marguerite came for 3 days and was the most patient person...

2 Week Update
We had Cameron’s 2 week check-up today and he is still “perfect!” he weighs 8lbs 2oz (30th percentile) and is 21” (90th percentile). The doctor thinks he may have a little reflux, which we will watch, but otherwise everything is normal!!

A typical day for a newborn
We have officially been home from the hospital for one week and we are slowly getting into a routine - sleep, eat, change diaper, repeat. But seriously, sweet little Cam is such a ham and has been a super sweet newborn so far! Here is a typical day for us: 8am - wakey wakey Cam’s hungry! I feed him 3oz (or as much as he wants) and pray he goes back to sleep. He usually does for an hour...

A Couple of Firsts
Last night was a little tough for us three - Cam didn’t want to go to sleep because he was so overtired and Chad and I tried to discuss a good schedule to try with him. I’ve been researching, reading and asking my friends about when and how to put Cam on a sleep schedule. Everyone says by 6 weeks he should be on a good one and to just let him dictate it for now - this includes eating...

Cameron's Birth Story: Part II
PART II I have to back up a little so that Part II makes sense… It was late Saturday morning and the anesthesiologist entered our hospital room to give me an epidural. I am so afraid of pain that this was part of our plan the entire time, unless it wasn’t an option for whatever reason.  So, the resident - we learned that there are nurses, med students, residents, attendees and...

Cameron's Birth Story: Part I
PART I So, here we are, one week after Cameron was born and I haven’t written anything about what has gone on in the last week and a half. Let me start from the beginning. Wednesday, June 27 We were admitted to the hospital at 5:30 for an induction. Little did we know that this would be an extremely looooong induction. They started off with Misoprostol, which is a pill they inserted (guess...

Dear Cameron: It's Time!
Today’s the day, little guy! You are a little early, but that’s OK with us…we are so excited to meet you! Daddy and I are heading to the hospital tonight to check in and get this party started. When we first get there, they will check us both out and hook me up to a monitor, then they will insert the first dosage of Misoprostol every four hours until I start to dilate (the...

An Update!
We had our 38 week appointment this morning and have a little bit of news to share…nothing major, but it could be! The last two weeks my blood pressure has been a little high. I NEVER have high blood pressure, so my doctor obviously noticed. Today, again, it was high AND I had protein in my urine (which I have also never had before). So, I am being monitored for preeclampsia, and...

38 week doctor's appointment
Good morning, Cameron!! We are off to breakfast (doing a little “mystery” shopping…shhh!) then to your 38 week check-up! How are you doing in there?? You are still moving like crazy - and currently have a foot in my rib! I think you are running out of room and need to come out ;) Sound like a deal?? Hopefully the doctor will give us some promising news - I’ll let you...
